Gregor Observing Plan for Second Term in 2024

The observing plan for the second term in 2024 as approved by the Time Allocation Committee is published.

The second half of the 2024 observing season will start on August 26 with an observing campaign using ZIMPOL to measure with high fidelity the linear polarisation in particular absorption lines across the solar disk to gain insight in the properties of scattering polarization throughout the solar atmosphere. This and other campaigns will take advantage of the new off-limb adaptive optics system, that allows to lock the wave-front sensor to the Halpha emission of prominences. The successful GRIS instrument will be used in its various configuations. The new GRIS setup allows to observe the spectral windows around He I 1083.0 and Ca II 854.2 simultanesouly. In most compaigns the data sets will be complemented with HiFI+ simultaneous imaging in various photospheric chromospheric wavelengths. These images can be reconstructed to yield images at highest possible spatial resolution down to 0.08 arcsec around 400 nm.
