Dear colleagues,

In January 2025, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Freiburg habilitated Dr Petri Käpylä on the basis of his thesis “Ab initio Simulations of Stellar Convection and Dynamos”, awarding him the Venia legend teaching licence for the subject of physics.

The habilitation is the highest university degree in Germany awarded to candidates with outstanding achievements in scientific research and teaching. Mr Käpylä now holds the title of Privatdozent (PD).

The KIS would like to congratulate Dr. Petri Käpylä on this accomplishment.
